Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect learning which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
